Alain Jaubert's film examines Andy Warhol's 'Ten Lizes'. Ten identical faces printed in black, in two rows, on a large canvas 5.65 metres wide and 2m high. Are these faces identical? Not exactly... Warhol created this picture, based on a photograph of Elizabeth Taylor, which he repeated ten times by means of silk screening. Is an image like this, which seems to break with traditional portraiture, as easy to decipher as a classical painting?
