viewer's comments:
- Good sci-fi.
This 1964 film is very good, one of the best ones I've seen. The story wasn't confusing or stupid, although it is typical to films made during this time. It's too bad that the print I've seen was somewhat grainy and blurry. I believe there is a better print out there, because this movie shouldn't be wasted, it has too much to offer.
- Invasion Of The Master Cylinders!
I saw this film 12 years ago. I'd rather like to see it again. I remember how funny I found the robots, which could best be described as being like sentient gas-boilers with a vicious streak a mile wide. Forget the rest of this film. Despite postdating at least two of the famous 'Quatermass' films, it is obvious that the people responsible for 'The Earth Dies Screaming' received no inspiration from Nigel Kneal's excellent storylines. Or anyone else's, for that matter.
But we're not here for inspired plotlines, are we? Nor are we here for good acting, production, or direction either.
No.
We just want to see the earth taken over, its people destroyed, and its corpses resurrected.
By hilarious lumbering robots that look like ambulatory oil-drums, central heating boilers, or refuse-bins!
- They don't make them like this anymore
I watched this movie late on cable and enjoyed every minute. It had all the ingredients of a classic B Movie. Aliens,Zombies,Quaint english village,Survivors of an environmental disaster,Hapless females, and dodgy acting. You have to love the old B Movies to really enjoy this film.
