Susan foster (Carla Lehmann) is cast into a web of international intrigue when she decides to hide fugitive British agent Alan Thurston (James Mason) from Nazi agents in the Vichy colony of Algiers. Thurston's mission is to recover a camera revealing the exact location where the Allies are rehearsing operations for the invasion of North Africa. His every move is followed by Dr. Muller, a Nazi sympathiser, who will stop at nothing to acquire the camera and capture the Allied group.
