Un duel sans pitie
"Rafales" is clearly a very interesting movie when it comes to realization and acting. Even with the lack of plausibility of some elements of the story, the actors were able to do a surprisingly good job. They are so convincing that it is difficult not to feel their emotions, not to think the guy could effectively be your next door neighbor, as one mentions in the movie.
The story takes a whole different meaning with the last speech, in a scene filled with strange expectation and irony. The directors also made sure the movie didn't turn to bathos: it could have easily gone that way but they had a good control of the intensity that makes the movie harrowing.
The short appearance of Kim Yaroshevskaya is especially touching and the tribute to Québec's winters is excellent (the title of the movie is really well chosen and has two meanings).
