William Faulkner's steamy tale set in the South in the 1920s. Governer's daughter is seduces and raped by a Cagin who returns after she's married to cause her further trouble.
REVIEW:
-in 1961 Carroll Baker starred in her most unusual movie, something wild...in the same year, Lee Remick took on a similar role in sanctuary ....in her acting career, she won't play anything like it again...married and a daughter to the governor, Lee Remick carries a past which poisons everyone around her....the two films aren't film noir in the strictest sense, but yet have all the ingredients...filmed in stark black and white, the players seem like animals trapped in a universe mined with danger and despair...if you can get hold of this rare film, it's worth the trouble.
