Misery is brought to a small tribe of African bushmen in the form of a cola bottle. In his quest to throw the evil object over the edge of the earth, Xixo encounters western "civilization", a haphazard doctor and a tyranical despot.

viewer's comments:

- adorable
I loved this movie! I loved how, although it wasn't an 100% accurate depiction of a Kalahari bushman, kids who watch this can believe that it is. Peaceful, happy, considerate; living a utopia.

And can we say *funny*?! This film was hilarious!! I couldn't stop laughing at the slapstick performed by the lead actor(don't remember his name.), the bushman, and all the children.

But best of all (and I'm not some 35-year-old mother), is that people of *any* age, boy or girl can watch this.

- I love this film!
This film is a comic masterpiece! The bushman's view of the European's culture and idiosyncrases is priceless, and I can never get past it when channel-surfing. I just have to stop and watch it. Stein's befuddled and clumsy reactions to Kate are classic slapstick comedy.

- A happy movie
This movie must have cost $1.98 to make. There are no special effects to speak of. Everybody in this movie is an unknown. So why do I LOVE this movie? All I can say is the whole time I was watching this, I had a smile on my face. The concept was then and even now, unique. You connect right away with the hero, and root him on to the end. I will not tell you what the film is about, because You must watch it with no preconceptions or political bias. Just go rent the tape or download it, and you will watch a really special movie.

- Phenomenal
On July 7, 2003, I read an announcement of N!xao's death. The same night I re-watched the phenomenal movie (thank goodness I had the foresight to get my own video copy before it has gone out of stock) that introduced this real-life Bushman to the world. As the above-average movie buff and especially as an aspiring screenwriter, I appreciate what this movie has - a unique premise for a comedy, likeable characters we care about and are rooting for all the way; three plotlines that seamlessly and logically converge; good setups and great payoffs; a satisfying ending. Watch out for a good screenwriting technique of the recurring lines "I noticed", "I don't wanna talk about it", "And why are you so beautiful?", "It's an interesting phenomenon", "What bloody rhinoceros?".

It's a feel-good, funny, heartwarming story about love, friendship, and following your faith. See it when you can!!!

- Absolutely AS GOOD AS IT GETS...
I've seen documentaries like it. I've seen love stories like it. I've seen gunfight / hostage taking / revolution / terrorist movies like it. But I have NEVER seen anything like "IT". Absolutely as good as it gets... A rare STANDOUT in Motion Picture History.

I don't recount the plotlines of movies in my "reviews". Why bother? Better to attempt to describe the look on Mona Lisa's face. Whatever language you read and write - it fails you. I merely post a comment on IMDB when I see a timeless CLASSIC.

STANDOUT - "One that is conspicuous by virtue of excellence or superiority."

CLASSIC - "Belonging to the highest rank or class."

- The funniest and also the most wonderful movie I have ever seen
I first saw it in San Francisco in 1984. At the end of the movie the entire audience stood and applauded. I was astonished, as I'd never experienced this in a movie theater. I was so delighted that I went to see it again the very next evening. Exactly the same thing happened: the audience - a completely different one, of course - again stood and cheered as the movie reached its unexpected conclusion. I was exhilarated, enchanted, and had tear-lined cheeks from laughing more than I have at any other movie I have ever seen before or since. Go to the ends of the earth to see this unique and hilarious commentary on human nature. After years of trying, I tracked down a used video to treasure; and may it someday be released on DVD.

- Absolutely hilarious
This was the funniest movie I have seen in years. It covers slapstick, snide comments on inept government soldiers, how different cultures have completely different standards, and really light hearted humor about people attracted to each other. Something for both children and adults.

The scene in the children's classroom was as good as anything ever done by Laurel and Hardy.

I seldom buy movies but I will buy this one if they ever put it on DVD.
