A tiny mythical European kingdom, which for years has survived financially through evading its bills and smuggling is now facing bankruptcy. When a Manhattan shopgirl (Yolande Donlon) inherits this flat broke kingdom, she applies her creative American inginuity towards hyping the nations only asset: alcohol-flavoured cheese. Comedy and romance follow as Dirk Bogarde the cheese salesman, falls for the heroine.
