In postwar Britain, artist Judith ends her relationship with a young doctor when her more dashing wartime boyfriend Bill Brennan reappears. When she becomes pregnant they marry but he disappears at once, finding she has no money. She seeks help from the doctor and their friendship resumes. When the papers report her husband to be dead they marry, but Brennan is very much alive and ready to prove what a complete scoundrel he really is.- J.Perkins
