In Norway, 1860, a beautiful Swedish girl named Therese Berg is smitten with a young composer named Edvard Grieg. She wants desperately to help him with his career and makes a deal with her father to arrange a recital for Grieg. In return, she agrees to give up all contact with the composer. Grieg’s concert is success, and as agreed, Therese disappears from his life.
Later. Grieg travels to Copenhagen where he meets and falls in love with Nina Hagerup. Though Therese attempts to contact her lost love after her father dies. It is too late. He has already decided to marry Nina and continue pursuing his music. But that is not the last he would hear from Therese, and the road to success proves to hold many personal compromises for Grieg.
